Shelley and her father had been traveling for weeks. They didn’t have a home anymore. She didn’t have a mommy anymore. They barely had clothes and had been stealing food just to survive.
“This looks like a good neighborhood Shelley,” her father said, “I’m going to leave you here now, one of these rich sims is going to take you in and you’ll have a much better life without me.”
Shelley begged her daddy not to leave her here alone but he shook his head and said, “it’s the only way.”
As he walked off into the night Shelley burst into tears. Her daddy told her to go knock on one of the doors of the houses and someone would take her in but she was afraid.
So she roamed the streets instead. She didn’t know where she was going, this neighborhood was strange to her, so she just kept going.
She would sleep on park benches at night when no one was around.
When she got very dirty she started roaming at night and hiding during the day. She barely slept.
One day, she found a park with a swimming pool. There were no sims around so she washed herself in the cool water.
After her “bath” she fell into an exhausted sleep. She couldn’t remember the last time she had eaten and sleeping took away the hunger pangs.
When she woke she smelled something delicious. There was food! Forgetting her shyness, she asked the man if she could have one of his baked potatoes.
“Little girl, why aren’t you in school?” he asked, “I don’t recognize you. Are you new?”
All of the sadness and frustration got the better of Shelley and she told the nice man the whole story. About how her mommy had gotten sick and died. About her daddy losing his job and how they lost their home. About her daddy leaving her and telling her to find a new home.
The man handed her a plate with a potato on it and told her, “my name is Angelo Lothario, I have a little girl about your age named Haven, don’t worry Shelley, we’ll figure this out.”
Angelo went home and called in some of the neighbors. He explained Shelley’s situation to them all.
Unsurprisingly, everyone offered to take her in. What was surprising was that all of the friends began to argue over who would get custody of Shelley.
Meanwhile, poor Shelley sat at the bar listening to the adults argue and tried not to cry. Andrea and Veronica noticed and decided to put a stop to the fighting.
Veronica pleaded with them, “please, calm down. We all want what’s best for the girl. But this isn’t getting us anywhere.”
Andrea was next to speak up, “I think I have a solution that will be beneficial to everyone. We all have something we can offer the girl. So we should take care of her together,” when they all started questioning her at once she continued, “we’ll each take her into our homes for a few weeks at a time, we can share in the responsibility of raising her.”
As the adults decided on poor Shelley’s fate Kade and Kizzy got home from school and sat with her. Soon they were all laughing together and Shelley decided maybe things would be okay after-all.
Shelley is “Shelley- Cute Orphan” by Amberlyn1980.
I had planned to play Enki’s Orphan Passed Around Challenge with her but as you should know by now the Challenge Mashup rotation only lasted for two more chapters. Shelley has been moved to the AfterTime BACC save.
